Dolphin pod captured on video swimming alongside row boat in Cornwall
"We don't really see them that far up the river very often," rowing club spokesperson said
A pod of around 20 dolphins has been captured on video swimming alongside a row boat in Cornwall.
A member of the Helford River Gig Club recorded the footage as the team took their boat out to practice.
The group were surprised by the pod who followed their rowboat along the Helford River in Cornwall for nearly an hour.
The school of 20 dolphins included at least two calves.
Catherine Harrison, a spokeswoman for the club, said she observed the pod dive under the boat before they would take-off into the air.
“My husband saw one leap straight out the water. They were so close you could hear them breathing and snorting, but we didn't disturb them,” she added.
“We don't really see them that far up the river very often, there were lots of birds about too so there must have been a large shoal of fish in the water”.
”To see a pod that of that size was a complete surprise.
