Dr Marion Tinsley edged closer to fending off the challenge from the computer program Chinook, when three more games were drawn in the World Draughts Championship match in London. With 31 of the 40 games completed he leads by 3 wins to 2. In the Lloyds Bank Masters Chess Tournament, Jonathan Speelman (England) and Gennadi Timoshchenkl (Russia) share the lead after five rounds with 4 1/2 points each.
