Drink-driver jailed

Jill Young, 48, an unemployed barmaid of Blackwater, Hampshire, who was nearly three times over the drink-drive limit when she killed a pregnant pedestrian, was jailed for three-and-a-half years. She admitted causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after the accident last September. Linda Wolage, 28, died the next morning. The baby was delivered by Caesarean section but died 36 hours later, Winchester Crown Court was told.
