Driver dies, 20 are hurt as school buses crash
POLICE were last night still trying to find out what caused a head-on collision between a school coach and a mini-bus carrying American children, which left one driver dead and 20 people injured.
The driver of the mini-bus, Bill Lutitt, who was in his late forties, was killed in the crash yesterday morning near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Tracy Dashiel, 14, of Medmenham, near Henley, whose father is a Lieutenant Colonel with the US Air Force based at High Wycombe, was last night 'in a critical condition' at Wycombe General Hospital. Her 16-year-old brother Chris was also on the bus, but escaped with minor injuries.
Another American, Audrey Davidson, 18, was 'satisfactory' at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, near Aylesbury. Her brother, Don, 15, suffered a broken collar bone.
A girl injured in a crash last week involving a school bus and a lorry, in which more than 50 children were hurt, has died.
Helen Steel, 11, of Low Catton, Humberside, had been on a life-support system since the accident, which happened near York last Monday.
