Pearse McAuley, 29, who escaped from Brixton prison in 1991 while awaiting trial, was convicted at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin of possession of a pistol and ammunition with intent to endanger life when he was arrested in Dublin in April. Sentence was postponed.
