BRUSSELS plans to remove Fireman Sam's trousers. This is, happily, not so. The EU has laid down standards for safety and protection equipment for firefighters Europe-wide - most of which fit UK rules. It has been reported British firefighters would have to swap their canary yellow trousers for Euro-blue ones. But this is not true.
