A British soldier based in Northern Ireland and a man described as a private investigator were charged with trying to extort pounds 2.5m from one of New Zealand's richest men - the honorary Dutch consul in Auckland. The soldier, Nicholas Brown, 21, and Bryan Cooper, 45, of Gloucester, were arrested in Auckland on Wednesday.
