Edwin Pearson, 43, and his son Steven, of Wigton, Cumbria, died when their BMW car was crushed by an artiulated lorry blown over by high winds, as storms continued to batter parts of Britain, blocking roads with floods and fallen trees.

In Newport, Shropshire, a woman was killed and a man seriously injured when a lorry was blown over, killing the woman in the car.
