Ferry to stop animal exports
BRITTANY Ferries is to stop exports of farm animals for slaughter on its six routes to France and Spain from 22 August, because of the suffering caused. It is also limiting transport for fattening or breeding to routes from the south of England to Britanny, Normandy and the Loire Valley from 30 September. Last month P & O Ferries said it would stop carrying animals to Europe for slaughter from October, unless an improvement in European Union standards was imminent.
