A Polish man haunted by his experiences as a prisoner of war turned his flat into a cell, putting bars on the windows and locking himself into a cage at night, an inquest was told. Kazimerz Symanski, 81, of Holl oway, north London, had the windows nailed open because he feared being gassed. He died of pneumonia caused by hypothermia.
