A solicitor was suspended from a law firm named in a High Court action by the Salvation Army. The Army is trying to recover more than 6m of its funds which have disappeared.

Robert Adey was sent home by the Birmingham solicitors Edge & Ellison. The company said neither the firm nor Mr Adey were involved in any impropriety and they were co-operating fully.

Edge & Ellison acted for Stuart Ford, a businessman alleged to have conspired to defraud the Army of pounds 6.3m. The spokesman said they were closely examining the handling of dealings with Mr Ford.
