The fiancee of the former England football player Stan Bowles, 47, was attacked with a truncheon by her former boyfriend, David Ratcliffe, 36. The men had been best friends until Mr Bowles had begun a relationship with Diane Bellchambers, 35, after he moved in to Ratcliffe's home in Brentford, west London. Ratcliffe admitted actual bodily harm. Sentence was delayed.
