A police clerk addicted to playing fruit machines stole more than pounds 11,000 from fines paid into Maidstone police station, Kent, to gamble on machines in the staff canteen. Jacqueline Downey, 47, was put on probation and ordered to pay over pounds 7,000 compensation.
