Gang leader gets life for stabbing man to death

A gang leader who stabbed a man to death at a well-known meeting place for homosexuals was jailed for life yesterday.

The Old Bailey was told that Kevin Gallagher, 32, instigated regular 'queer-bashing' trips which culminated in the murder of Ronald Eades, 55, a chauffeur, in a car park at Shirley Hills, Surrey, on 13 March. Gallagher, of South Croydon, buried his victim's body and stole his car, which he drove for the next few days.

Judge Henry Pownall told him: 'You set out on an outrageous series of offences against people who had done you no harm at all.'
