A two-year-old girl was killed and her father seriously injured when they were hit by a van as they crossed the A38 near Lichfield, Staffordshire. The girl was strapped into a child seat on a bicycle. In Huddersfield, Michael Bray, 17, was killed when a car mounted the pavement and crashed into a group of young people, seriously injuring two of them. In Co Durham, a motorist was injured when he crashed into a stolen car abandoned in the outside lane of the A1(M).
