A Private Member's Bill to conserve Britain's hedgerows was killed off when Tory MPs 'talked out' their fellow Conservative Peter Ainsworth's Hedgerow Protection Bill. It would have forced landowners to notify their local council before destroying more than 60 feet of hedge.
