Two poems written for a wealthy family in north Wales 400 years ago are probably the work of William Shakespeare, a historian said yesterday.
Tom Lloyd-Roberts believes the young Shakespeare was then in Wales as London theatres were closed because of the plague. He said the poems, written in praise of Sir John Salisbury and his wife, Ursula, of Lleweni, Clwyd, were penned in a distinctive hand. He wanted the manuscript, in the library of Christ Church, Oxford, to be re-examined.
