Chaos was caused in three cities following a hoax bomb warning by a man using an IRA code word. He phoned the Evening Press in Dublin and said bombs would go off in Newcastle upon Tyne, Manchester and Milton Keynes. Shops were evacuated and train and bus stations closed.
