Almost 80 unemployed people are chasing every job vacancy in Hull, research has revealed.
Aberdeen was found to be the best city to find a job, with around one unemployment claimant per vacancy, said the job search website Adzuna. The North fared comparatively worse than the South, with Reading, Cambridge, London and Milton Keynes all showing fewer than two claimants per vacancy. Other areas with high ratios included Stoke-on-Trent (73), Sunderland (53) and the Wirral (40).
Engineering, computing, sales and marketing are showing the strongest demand for jobs nationally, the study showed.
