Two men were killed and five other people were injured in a crash yesterday night between two cars on the A470 in Wales.

The collision occurred in Powys. Five men driving other vehicles in convoy have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A black Volkswagen Golf estate and a green Volkswagen Golf were involved in the accident on the A470 near Storey Arms, Brecon, between Libanus and RAC bends, just before 10.15pm.

The man driving the green Golf and a male passenger in the same vehicle died. Both men are from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.

Three other passengers in the car were taken to hospital in serious conditions.

The driver and front seat passenger in the black Golf estate were taken to hospital, where their conditions are also being described as serious.

The road was reopened this morning.

Officers appealed for any witnesses to get in touch with the Dyfed Powys roads policing unit by calling 101.
