Police have issued an urgent appeal following the disappearance of a seven-year-old boy in Birmingham.

Denis Beran was taken to a shop in Hagley Road at 10am on Wednesday by his father Rene Klempar but was not returned to his mother, who has full parental responsibility, police say.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: “We are therefore seeking any information on the whereabouts of Denis and asking for anyone who may have seen him with his dad … to get in touch.”

The forced added that Mr Klempar is not wanted for any offences, stressing that “we need to know the child is safe”.

Denis is described as being of southern European descent and has olive skin, short hair and brown eyes.

“He was wearing a green jumper with blue jogging bottoms, a blue jacket and brown trainers yesterday [Wednesday 29 April],” West Midlands Police said.

“If you have any information, please call 999 immediately.”
