Blast knocks out power in Nottingham
Some 3,000 buildings were without power today after an explosion at a sub-station.
Homes, offices and shops in parts of Nottingham all lost power after the explosion at the sub-station in the city's centre shortly before 11am.
Nottinghamshire Police said they had to evacuate buildings while firefighters put out a subsequent fire at the sub-station on Castle Road.
A spokesman for E.ON said its engineers were trying to fix the problem.
