Woman arrested trying to scale the front gates of Buckingham Palace

Footage has emerged showing the woman's attempts

A woman has been arrested for attempting to climb the gates at Buckingham Palace.

At 17:40 on 7 October, the woman, who is thought to be in her 30s, was detained by officers as she attempted to access palace grounds.

Footage has been circulated on social media and shows that the woman was not able to make much progress before being hauled to the ground.

The clip shows two officers pulling the woman, who has brown hair and is dressed in blue jeans and a black top, off the railings.

The crowd of people who have gathered to witness the woman's attempts are seen in the video applauding and capturing the scenes on

She was arrested on suspicion of trespass under Section 128 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, trespass on a designated site and is currently in custody at a central London police station.

The incident is not being treated as terrorism-related, a police statement added.
