Abusive notes left at scene of young man's motorbike death blaming him for newly installed speed bumps

Abusive, expletive-ridden notes have been left at the scene of a crash in which a young motorcyclist was killed, blaming him for newly installed speed bumps nearby.

Stephen Hyland, 24, died in the smash at a notorious accident black spot in Dublin, after which traffic-calming measures were built along the road.

A series of notes blaming Mr Hyland for the change have now been left at his roadside memorial.

One of the notes says: “Thanks for the ramps! F*** you. I’m glad you are dead”.

While another reads: “Hope you died in agony you c***!”.

Mr Hyland’s brother, Brian, took to Facebook to speak out about the messages.

“Absolutely disgusted about this," he said.

"To think some people would write these sort of horrible things about my brother because he lost his life on a dangerous road which he was not the first to do.

“All those ramps are to ensure no-one has to go through the heartbreak and sadness both my family and Steos friends have gone through and still go through every single day. They are there to save lives.

“To the horrible c**** who left these messages at the tree where my brother died I say this. To attack the dead who have no way of defending themselves is one of the most disgusting things any person can do."

Brian ended the post by asking those responsible to stop leaving the notes.

“Now please leave my brother in peace. He at least deserves that much,” he said.
