A woman has shared footage of the moment she had a lucky escape from a man who was following her home.

Jyoti Matoo, from Leeds, was walking home from the city centre on Tuesday November 7 when she noticed a man following behind her and turned around to face him stopping him in his tracks.

Posting the footage on Facebook she wrote: “I’m so lucky! My intuition just knew! Please stay safe ladies!! Something made me stop. Dock Street area Leeds city centre.”

Ms Matoo told MailOnline: “It is scary to think what could have happened.

“I have no idea how long he had been following me as I had been shopping in the centre. I first noticed him as I got over the bridge. There were still loads of people because it was broad daylight but he was just relentless in following me.

“Was he going to mug me? Attack me? Who knows what he was planning on doing? I think he was just waiting until he got me alone down a street. Luckily I found these two ladies talking and just went up to them. They just looked at me like what is she doing. The guy then started pointing around pretending he was lost before running away.”

The 30-year-old magazine editor's post has been viewed by over 36,000 people.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “West Yorkshire Police is investigating a suspicious incident that happened in the Dock Street area of Leeds at 3pm on Tuesday 7 November, 2017

“Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference 13170520292.”
