Couple killed by train at Yorkshire station in suspected suicide
Police say incident not being treated as suspicious

A man and a woman have died after being struck by a train in Yorkshire.
The incident occurred shortly after 8pm on Tuesday evening at Doncaster railway station, with unconfirmed reports suggesting they jumped off the platform at the same time.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed officers and paramedics were called to the station, but the pair were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Work is being done to identify the man and woman and to inform their next of kin,” a BTP spokesperson said.
“An investigation into how the man and woman came to be on the tracks is underway, however at this time the circumstances are not thought to be suspicious.”
Last night, Virgin Trains announced with “great sadness” that someone had been hit by a train.
“My heart is broken for all involved in this tragic incident,” a Virgin Trains worker wrote on its Twitter account. “Services are returning to normal but so much pain will remain. If you have been affected by tonight's events, please talk to the Samaritans.”
