UK weather: There's going to be a heatwave - but not for everyone

While much of the north is in for higher temperatures, the south and east are likely to feel colder

Parts of the UK are anticipating 10 days of sunshine with temperatures up to 15°C predicted.

However, while much of the north is in for higher temperatures, the south and east are likely to feel colder.

An area of high pressure across the UK will mean a good amount of dry and settled weather, according to the Met Office forecast.

Towards the end of the month, the Met Office forecasts a transition to more unsettled and slightly colder weather.

Forecaster Mark Wilson said parts of Scotland and the north west will likely get the best weather, while the southeast is likely to turn cooler by the weekend.

He said: "It is looking mainly dry throughout the week with some places getting some really decent sunshine. The east will be a bit chillier over the next couple of days but places further north and west will do rather well.

"This is because of the location of high pressure which will bring cooler winds off the North Sea to southeastern regions with milder breezes elsewhere.

"Further into the week it is a similar picture, dry with some pleasant spells of sunshine although fog could be a problem in the mornings. Although it is largely looking dry throughout the week, there will be a little bit of rain around."
