Victim of Facebook sofa prank said she is 'not embarassed' by her newfound internet fame

The victim of a Facebook prank who was tricked into sawing her sofa into three pieces has said she's not remotely embarassed about the incident.

Emma Taylor, from St Anne's in Lancashire, found fame after posting her old worn-out sofa on a Facebook buy and sell page.

21-year-old prankster Joe Cordingley saw the post, and said he was interested in buying the sofa "for a project".

He then told her to rip, stain and eventually saw the sofa into three pieces, claiming it was the only way he would get it into his car.

Cordingley then stopped sending messages, and posted pictures of the pair's conversation, which quickly spread across the internet and made headlines.

However, speaking to The Mirror, Taylor has said she's not embarassed by her newfound internet fame.

She told the paper: "When Joe messaged me asking how much, I thought he was being entirely serious."

"I thought he just wanted it for some sort of stage production or a murder mystery night so I just went along with it."

Cordingley previously said he decided to play his prank due to the poor state of the sofa, but Taylor clarified that she was looking to give it away for free.

"It's a sofa I've had for years that was just wasting away in our front room."

"My cats have been all over it and my friends' dogs too - I was just looking to give it away, I wasn't expecting anyone to pay for it."

She added: "Maybe I should feel humiliated but I don't. I thought he was genuine and was trying to help him out.

"I was trying to make a few quid in the run up to Christmas and tidy the house at the same time, but it has backfired slightly."
