Girl, 15, rescued from beach hole
Medics saved the life of a girl today after a hole she was digging on a beach collapsed on her.
East of England Ambulance Service said a 7ft hole that the 15-year-old girl was digging on the beach at Caister, near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, caved in.
It is understood the teen stopped breathing but medics managed to save her life by clearing her airways.
A spokeswoman for the Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.04pm and a rapid response crew arrived on the scene five minutes later backed up by an ambulance.
"A 15-year-old girl was taken by an RAF Sea King helicopter to James Paget Hospital accompanied by a clinician from the rapid response vehicle.
"The girl had gone into suspected respiratory arrest after falling down a 7ft hole in the sand."
Duty Operations Manager Dave Greggs said: "Mark Little, the rapid response vehicle clinician, carried out initial treatment that possibly saved her life."
A spokeswoman said the girl was recovering "quite well" at the hospital in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth.
