Hundreds of people in West Yorkshire made an attempt today to beat the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of elves.

The hopefuls donned Christmassy garb, pointy ears and elf hats in Stockeld Park, in Wetherby, seven miles south-east of Harrogate, to try to break a world record which current record stands at 762.

All proceeds from the event will to Martin House Children's Hospice.
