A student who suffered a brain injury at a protest against university tuition fees is likely to face a second trial after jurors failed to reach a verdict on whether he was guilty of violent disorder.
Alfie Meadows, 21, from Brixton, south London, was accused of causing disruption in London in December 2010. But after more than two days of deliberations, a jury at Kingston Crown Court failed to agree on whether he and Zac King, 21, were guilty. Three others were acquitted of violent disorder.
The Crown Prosecution Service was ordered to announce whether it will bring another trial at a hearing on 27 April.
