A toilet located near Kensington Palace, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, has gone on auction, with bids opening at £150,000.

The toilet will be auctioned by property specialist Allsop today with a guide price of £150,000, the Evening Standard has reported.

The leasehold "property" has no bedrooms, garden and just one window, but does over look Kensington Palace Gardens.

It appears too small to live in, but could potentially be used as a very small office.

The listing for the property says: "Local shops and amenities are readily available along fashionable Kensington High Street and Kensington Church Street to include numerous restaurants, boutique shops and antique shops.

"Kensington High Street Underground station (District Line) is available to the west and the open spaces of Hyde Park are within walking distance to the east."

The average house price across the UK is currently just over £240,000, although property prices in central London have spiralled upwards in recent years.
