MICHAEL SAMS, the man who kidnapped Stephanie Slater and murdered prostitute Julie Dart, is to sue Miss Slater for libel.

Former estate agent Miss Slater, 28, alleges in a book that Sams, 51, raped her during her eight-day ordeal three years ago.

"I cannot allow this to go unchallenged," said Sams in a statement from Wakefield Prison. At Sams' trial Miss Slater denied that her captor had raped her.
