Two men filmed fighting with knives on the streets of south London

Two men have been filmed apparently lunging at each other with knives in a south London street.

Video footage shows a man diving at another man on a busy residential road in the middle of the afternoon in front of motorists and passers-by.

One man is seen dodging away from the other as what appears to be a knife is brandished at him, before chasing the first man down the street with what looks like a knife of his own.

The motorist who captured the footage in Streatham in April said he is releasing the video with the hope that police would be able to catch the men involved.

The man, a 23-year-old carer who is unnamed in reports, told the Evening Standard that school children had been present during the incident which occurred at around 5:30pm on 20 April.

“One of them clearly had a four to six inch kitchen knife and tried to stab the other man at least twice,” he said.

“It looked like the other guy had a flick knife and he chased him up the road.”

He also claimed scenes such as the one he filmed were common in Streatham: "Every single day you see someone's been stabbed or there's been a shooting so in this part of south London it's not uncommon."

A Metropolitan police spokesperson said no arrests had been made in relation to the incident.

In May, a 21-year-old man was left in a critical after being stabbed on Mount Nod Road in Streatham.

Last month, the Met said it was called to more than 9,000 knife crime incidents in London in the year ending April 2016, the BBC reports.

1,623 of the victims were under the age of 25 including 866 teenagers, it said. Twelve were knifed to death.

Thomas Koing, a doctor at London's Air Ambulance service, said 30 per cent of the incidents they attended were due to knife crime
