Libraries face threat from review
The law ensuring local authorities provide a "comprehensive" library service could be under threat, industry experts have warned.
It is one of 1,294 statutory duties under review in a consultation by the Department of Communities and Local Government. The ministry says the review aims to remove old "statutory burdens".
Mark Taylor, from the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, said: "Just there being a possibility of it being removed is of great concern to us."
