M6 crash: Northbound carriageway closed after fatal four-vehicle collision
Significant disruption expected
A man has died following a four-vehicle crash on the M6 overnight.
Police were called to the collision on the northbound carriageway, between junction 2 for Coventry and junction 3, in the early hours of Monday.
Warwickshire Police said the victim was in his 40s and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both carriageways were closed as emergency services attended the incident and the northbound road remains shut.
The Highways Agency and police, fire and ambulance teams are currently at the scene.
"We know this is likely to cause significant disruption to motorists this morning and I would like to thank them for their patience and say we are doing all we can to re-open the road as soon as we can," said Emma Bastone, from Warwickshire Police.
"This was a serious collision in which sadly a man has died and our thoughts are with his family at this time."
Diversions are in place and police officers are urging motorists to find alternative routes.
