Marathon: No medal for paralysed woman
A paralysed woman set to become the first person to walk the London Marathon in a bionic suit will not receive a medal when she finishes because she has taken too long.
Claire Lomas, who has already hit her fundraising target of £50,000, was left paralysed from the chest down after a horse-riding accident. She is expected to complete the 26.2-mile route next Tuesday wearing a £43,000 suit which enables people with lower-limb paralysis to walk using motion sensors.
But Ms Lomas, 32, from Leicestershire, will not appear in official results as she took longer than a day.
