A cyclist has died after he was in collision with a lorry on the A1, police have said.

The incident, involving a male cyclist and a lorry, happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1 near Blyth, Nottinghamshire, at about 4.15am today.

Officers closed the northbound carriageway while initial enquiries were carried out. It was reopened this afternoon, a Nottinghmashire Police spokesman said.

The cyclist, believed to be 61-years-old, was taken to Bassetlaw Hospital, where he later died.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to call the Nottinghamshire Police or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
