Activists from the Occupy movement chained themselves to the pulpit of St Paul's Cathedral during a service today, to mark the anniversary of the formation of their protest camp outside.
In a statement on their website the protesters said they wanted to bring pressure on the leadership of St Paul's to "stop sitting on the fence and join the fight against rising inequality in the UK and beyond".
The original camp against global inequality was set up a year ago tomorrow outside St Paul's after being moved from the nearby Stock Exchange and remained until February.
Cathedral staff said the protesters are not regarded as trespassers and they were happy for them to be there.
