Paul Gambaccini: 'Sir Jimmy Savile used charity to avoid abuse exposure'
Sir Jimmy Savile used his fundraising work to quash rumours of indecent assault on under-age girls, a former Radio 1 colleague has claimed.
As further abuse claims emerged ahead of a documentary tomorrow night, Paul Gambaccini said Savile "was called [by a newspaper] and he said, 'Well you could run that story, but… do you want to be responsible for the drying up of the charity donations?' And they backed down."
