Pinter's square is Britain's most expensive address

A square in Notting Hill, in west London, is the most expensive residential address in England and Wales, with an average house price of £4.9m, according to Lloyds TSB.

Campden Hill Square, near Kensington Palace, has been home to several literary residents,including the Nobel prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter, pictured in 2005, and his wife Lady Antonia Fraser, who worte about life there in her memoirs. Evelyn Underhill, left, known for her writings on religion in the early 20th century, and Charles Morgan, the novelist, journalist and playwright, pictured far left with his wife, also lived there.

Campden Hill Square was one of seven streets in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea which made the priciest top 10. Outside London the most expensive was Leys Road in Leatherhead, Surrey, with an average price of £3.1m.
