Planned early closures of weekday evening services on a busy Tube line this summer have been cancelled, Transport for London (TfL) said today.

The decision, affecting the Northern line, follows TfL's acquisition of Underground maintenance company Tube Lines, which was upgrading and repairing the Northern, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines.

The priority was now to agree a Northern line plan "that gets the job done to a timetable that suits Londoners, and with the minimum disruption to our customers and businesses", said London Underground managing director Mike Brown.

Business organisation London First said it welcomed the fact that Underground management would consult with businesses on Tube closures.
