Rebekah Brooks could be on her way back to News Corp after being cleared of phone-hacking
Former editor has been spotted visiting the media group’s offices in Manhattan

Rebekah Brooks, having been cleared of phone hacking, could be on her way back to a billet at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.
The former editor of the News of the World and The Sun has been spotted visiting the media group’s offices in Manhattan and is expected to move to the US with her husband Charlie Brooks. Mr Murdoch is reported to be keen to employ her again despite the risk of causing further controversy. Ms Brooks resigned as News International chief executive but later received a £10.8m pay-off.
Ms Brooks was cleared in June but criminal action against other former Sun journalists continues.
News Corporation said through a spokesman: “She and her family are here for a visit, reconnecting with friends and meeting with businesses as she explores her professional future.”
Some former News International journalists have expressed bitterness at the way, in comparison to more senior staff, they were treated by the management and standards committee set up by the company in the wake of the hacking scandal.
