Rosie Johnson: Mystery as woman vanishes from adventure centre on Isle of Wight

Zoology graduate disappeared without phone or money more than two days ago

A major search is under way for a 22-year-old zoology graduate who vanished from an adventure centre on the Isle of Wight.

Rosie Johnson was last sighted on Sunday evening at the PGL Little Canada adventure centre, in Wootton, where she works as a field studies instructor.

She is described as slim, with mousey brown hair and was wearing a dark blue puffa jacket and trousers when she went missing.

Police, coastguard and search-and-rescue teams were scouring the Wootton Creek area for the university graduate on Wednesday.

Ms Johnson, from Glasgow, is believed to have disappeared without a phone or money more than 48 hours ago.

Inspector Andy McDonald, from Hampshire Police, said: “We have serious concerns for Rosie’s welfare.

“Information suggests she is still on the island so this is where we are focussing our search.

“However, we would ask anyone with any information about her whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible.

“I would like to repeat our request for members of the Wootton community and surrounding areas to check any sheds, outbuildings or boats.

“Please carry out a thorough search and call us on 101 if you think you see or find anything that could assist our search.

“Residents will notice a lot of activity in the area today while we carry out our enquiries. If they have any concerns, they are encouraged to come and talk to us.”

Police said Ms Johnson’s family were being supported and kept up to date with the search.
