Royal baby: Two charts that show how your politics affect how you feel about the new princess
61 per cent say they are disinterested in the birth of the royal baby
If you’re a Ukip or a Labour voter, chances are you’re less likely to be bothered about the birth of the royal baby girl, a study has shown.
In a survey of 1713 people by YouGov 37 per cent of Labour and UKIP voters said they were ‘not at all interested’ in the birth of Duchess of Cambridge’s second child.
Overall, 68 per cent of Ukip voters registered disinterested in the royal birth, as did 66 per cent of Labour voters.
Conservative voters were the most engaged with 49 per cent interested, 14 per cent higher than the nearest other party’s voters, the Liberal Democrats.
82 per cent of Conservative voters believed that the royal family was a positive part of modern Britain, compared to only 48 per cent of Labour voters. Double the number of Labour voters (30 per cent) believed that the royal family had a negative effect on modern Britain.
48 per cent of those surveyed believed that the birth of a royal baby increases the morale of the country, including 61 per cent of Conservatives.
