Senior QC sues fellow lawyer after ‘Two Wigs’ toupée insult

A top QC is suing a fellow lawyer after he allegedly questioned his integrity and mocked his toupée.

Herbert Kerrigan, one of Scotland’s highest paid legal professionals, launched a civil action against solicitor Robin Davidson, who is said to have made the comments in front of a class of law students while conducting a lecture at Edinburgh University’s School of Law.

Mr Davidson, 44, is said to have made derogatory remarks about Mr Kerrigan’s integrity, and told students that the QC is nicknamed “Two Wigs”. According to the Scottish Sunday Mail, a “furious” Mr Kerrigan found out about the alleged remarks through a relative of a student who attended the lecture.

Mr Davidson told the newspaper: “It is in the hands of my lawyers. It would be inappropriate to comment.”

Mr Kerrigan, 67, who is also an ordained Church of Scotland minister, was the sixth highest legal aid earner in Scotland in 2011-12, with fees of £254,200.
