A sex offender has gone on the run from an open prison after being let out for a work placement.

Ronan Korby, who also goes by Lee Watersworth, absconded from HMP Leyhill, in Gloucestershire, on Friday.

Police hunting him warned members of the public not to approach the 50-year-old if they saw him but to call 999 immediately.

In a statement released online, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said he was last seen at around 10am in West Street, in Bristol.

“He failed to return to the prison in South Gloucestershire where he is serving a sentence for sexual offences,” the statement added.

Korby is white, about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a black jacket and jeans and has a tattoo of a sun and eagle on his right forearm.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
