Student dies after falling from Halls of Residence in Greater Manchester

The death is currently not being treated as suspicious by police

A woman has died after falling from a block of student halls of residence in Greater Manchester.

The 20-year-old student was pronounced dead at the scene after falling from the University of Salford halls, reports the Manchester Evening News.

North West ambulance service confirmed three vehicles attended a call at the John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts halls at around 6am.

Greater Manchester Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident at the moment.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended but a 20-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

A University of Salford spokesperson said: “We are saddened to report the tragic death of one of our students. We are working with police to do all we can to support the student’s friends and family at this sad time.”
