Britain has ordered Malawi's high commissioner to leave the country after Lilongwe expelled the UK envoy.

Fergus Cochrane-Dyet was told to leave Malawi after he was quoted in a leaked cable as saying the President was autocratic.

An invitation to the Malawi government to a party to celebrate the royal wedding tomorrow has been withdrawn.
