Toddler dies after milk float crash

A 22-month-old girl has died after she was involved in a collision with a milk float, police said today.

The toddler was taken to hospital after the collision, on Hopwood Lane, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, at 5.30pm yesterday, but has since died.

An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail, West Yorkshire Police said.

A police spokesman said: "Police in Halifax are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on Hopwood Lane on Thursday 25 August.

"The incident happened at 5.30pm and involved a 22-month-old girl and a milk float.

"As a result of the incident the young child was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but she has since died.

"An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.

"Inquiries are continuing."
